How to Create your Publishing Network

The Ycademy September Seminar will focus on building a personal publishing network and then to link it with other networks. The goal is to increase visibility and impact on Google and other Search Engines as well as on aggregators.

The Basic Network Structure

According to the YORGOO Publishing Model we are looking first at a three level in-house structure; thereafter we link with external networks.

The external Publishing Structure

Here we consider namely

• Aggregators
• Social Networks
• Media Networks
• Friendly Websites
• and more

This topic will be explained and implemented during the seminar.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO will be a special issue at the Seminar. All participants will use Semiomantics Scripts tuned for aggressive configuration. We will present step by step a recommended configuration for each site on each level.

The Author Blog

In most cases, the Author Blog is a Semiomantics XO site with quite a diversified and complex category and tag structure. Authors however tend to specialize on a few main topics (categories) which would constitute the recommended primary categories of the respective newspaper sites.

The Newspaper Site

In fact each newspaper owner provides a particular mix of topics designed to attract the targeted readership. In the ideal case the mix is function of the main interest of the editor and likely to correspond to the main categories in his author blog.In addition each Newspaper editor may add external authors and their content in function of the requirements of the project. Important: only publish content with the authorization of the external authors and respect copyright notices; all participants agree to allow all the other participants to syndicate content from their networks.

Newspaper sites are built on Semiomantics NewsCast or its successor script. The sites are provided and boosted by YORGOO Press.

The Niche Sites

These sites are traditionally YORGOO Blasters or Boosters. License holders may also use XO or NewsCast scripts for the purpose whereas it is important to take into account the particular editing requirements of these two scripts.

Special Configuration of Blaster or Booster type sites will be demonstrated at the Seminar.

Pre-requisites

It is of paramount importance that participants prepare their publishing structure before the seminar. This week’s daily calls will help to prepare these structures. Also, we will publish a sample based on my own model and publish it for reference before the seminar.

Flying Geese

When you are busy it’s the unusual sounds that disturb and attract your attention especially if the noise is getting louder and louder. Looking out of the window I discovered where the noise was coming from, a gaggle of geese flying straight at us, or is it a wedge of geese? No time  to discuss. Grab a camera, shoot!  The light for taking some reasonable shots was just about right as it was evening with a few clouds in the sky and the sun was soon to go down.

The geese were flying in formation coming in of the sea, wave after wave of them with a few straglers trailing behind. This was a really amazing opportunity to shoot a few images and a few videos, not always so easy when caught unaware with absolutely no time to prepare. Here is one of the pictures that was taken. There will come a few more images hopefully when I have time to go through all the shots.

Darren – who you see on the photo taken by David Turnley above – has a huge passion for the hospitality industry and vast experience from having brought “The Brassbell” in Kalk Bay to fame and making it a favourite dining out destination as well as serving the best fish ‘n chips almost on the wave crests of the Atlantic Ocean.

I loved to go there… but now with Thorfynn’s Restaurant just down and up the road and with a mouth-watering and well-priced menu I just eat out at home… or almost :)

I remember Sundays when it was a day of rest, a day of peace, childhood fun and family get-togethers. These days everyone seems to be caught up in work, shopping, travel and catching up on yesterday. Beauty with a Purpose

The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2010 beauty pageant, in aid of regional havens for battered and abused women and children, was officially launched at the begining of May by last years winner, Louise Muller from Mossel Bay (now a B Comm student at stellenbosch University). Louise was crowned as the face of the Garden Route at the Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009 gala event.

During the past six years, the Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo event presented by the Garden Route Casino in collaboration with Die Burger and the ISP Group, has grown into a community driven event, combating women and child abuse within the Southern Cape. The gala event itself has become a must see  of the Garden Route event calendar with excellent entertainment and amazing setting.

The he Heart of the competition are the four shelters for abused women and children

The Heart of the competition are the four shelters for abused women and children that benefit from the funds generated through this event. The shelters are Creating Effective Families in Mossel Bay, Phambili in George, Malibingwe in Oudtshoorn and Women Who Care in Knysna. As part of the gala event build up residents from the different shelters get the opportunity to be turned into “a princess for a day” by make-overs conducted in the different towns.

The 12 finalists are: (back) Liezel Volschenk (16) from Mossel Bay, Anja Niewenhuys (16) from George, Lounette Janse van Rensburg (16)  Danelle Muller (17), Bianca Firmani (16), Marchelle Wessels (17) and Nicole Maritz (14) all from Mossel Bay. Front: Naledi Phangindawo (16) from Mossel Bay,  Petro Rossouw (16), Lauren-Joy Jansen (14) both from George, Mandie Bartlett (17) from Mossel Bay and Riandi du Preez (14) from Oudtshoorn.

Miss Teen Langeberg Mall Finalists

Twelve beautiful girls from the Southern Cape was chosen on Satruday to compete for the Miss Teen Langeberg Mall 2010 title.  Last year’s winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Pieters has done very well and she is one of the semi-finalists in the Miss Teen SA 2010 contest.

Miss Teen Langeberg Mall Finalists generate funds for Child Welfare

The gala evening takes place on 9 October in the Mossel Bay Town Hall. Beforehand the finalists will get involved in several projects to generate funds for Child Welfare in Mossel Bay.

Natural Beauty of competitors  for Miss Teen Langeberg Mall is also important

During Saturday’s judging session the girls were not allowed to wear make-up or have their hair done. “This is a teenage competition and we wanted to see their natural beauty” Centre Manager, Ms Wendy Bezuidenhout said.
Eight of the girls are from Mossel Bay, three from george and one from Oudtshoorn.
