Let the photos talk. Today’s sunset was dramatic, maybe because it was a hazy day.
This is a view from Vouliagmeni center over the bay to the Kavouri side of town.

We have added a Visitors Mapping Script to our site which will allow us and our customers to monitor the traffic and origin thereof on the site. In as much as traveling and tourism oriented business is concerned, I guess the feature is useful as it will inform about the markets we reach.
Also, advertisers can adapt and better target their ads in functions of the stats available.
Of course we will also look to it that our advertisers will have their entries on Google Maps. Hanno Coetzee’s Business entry for Lalakoi is just an example:
More interesting are the stats, which show which keywords have produced what number of clicks:
I have crossed out Hanno’s keywords here; also, the site is not really significant since the domain redirects to another of Hanno’s Business sites. But the interest remains in the mapping capabilities Google offers.
Moore soon.

Slowly but surely we are getting there: we have just added an image rotator into the header section of the Destination Expo Portal. For the time being you will see just some black and white images, however the rotator can also be put at the disposal of advertisers.
We are not yet ready, but we have some ideas about our advertising strategy. Our Goal is to satisfy our customers and therefore we will not overload the site with ads. As traffic grows we will introduce more ads spots, function of the result of our visitor mapping and the analysis of the performance per page.
There will be no Google Ads on the site. We aim to reach out for advertisers interested in a global advertising plan, including banners and namely editorials. The advantage is evident: the editorials posted to the Destination Expo portal will enjoy high visibility and we will make it a case of honor to reach Google Top 10 with such editorials.
Bianca Gubalke from Noordhoek near Cape Town in South Africa will be in charge of Advertising and designing the campaigns for our customers.
More soon.

As you can see, our new site is getting organized. The purpose of the site is to provide it’s content the best possible visibility namely on Search Engines and then to allow visitors to easily navigate and subscribe to topics of their interest.
To assure the best possible exposure we use the latest scripts from Semiomantics based on WordPress. The fine tuning will take about 3 weeks however we expect results earlier.
To make the site as user-friendly as possible, we will focus on two main categories:
Destinations: The menu will be based on geographic Locations.
Places: The menu will be based on the name of an establishment, hotel, accommodation or traveling or tourism related service provider.
Destinations will be represented on Google Maps. For example, this post is written in Vouliagmeni, Greece.
More later.

Our new site “Destinations Expo” went live last night with some minimum content.
Inspired by the Destinations Expo Cape Town which takes place these days we thought about creating a permanent Destinations Expo Online. The idea is simple: we open the site to Traveling and Tourism related business and publish selected Destinations throughout our publishing networks.
Advertising completes the content.
We are not yet sure about the final form and shape to give the online Destination Expo; however we believe that a Destinations Expo online, sorted by Countries or Places could be an interesting approach.
The combination of the main site and customer sites will provide advertisers and customers an unequaled marketing advantage. For the time being we are testing category structures and Google response.
To start with we will test Destinations in South Africa. Thereafter we will look closer at Greece and other countries.

By Zo NicholasFollowing upon the previous post, the Thursday Ycademy training session involved learning a few more Photoshop techniques in anticipation of the new Photo Media Stock site. We practiced some new techniques on a photo of a Greek Church taken by Yorgo Nestoridis. Techniques were used to enhance the photo image: with a few simple adjustments certain features on the photo were enhanced.
Photos to be loaded to the new Photo Stock site need to be of the highest quality. Photo & Media Stock is a venture undertaken by Ycademy and the August Ycademy Online Seminar participants, to provide high quality, sharp and well focused media stock photos.

By Zo NicholasA new Photo Media Stock site will be opening its doors shortly, that is after the Photo Media Stock Seminar by Ycademy at the end of August. The site is brand new therefore there is much to prepare beforehand.
Anticipating the seminar at the end of August, seminar participants are joining preparatory trainings which provides them with some valuable knowledge about web graphics, videos, audios, digital photography and media as well as some techniques that can be applied. Below you can see an example of techniques applied to a photo of a seagull during a training call.
The Ycademy Photo Media Stock Seminar has a busy agenda ahead to follow, focusing on topics as stock media, stock photos, copyrights, watemarks, quality control and related others. A busy 2 days for all participants.
We all look forward to a great seminar weekend!

Copyright © 2010 Bianca Gubalke. Visit the original article at http://biancagubalke.com/ycademy-seminars/photo-stock-greek-church/.Yesterday’s preparatory Training Call for the Ycademy Seminar on “Photo Media Stock – How to present and sell your photos, media, audios and videos online” focused on improving the original photo of a Greek Church that you see right at the bottom of this article, by using the Adjustment Tools in Photoshop CS4.
Here is my quick result…
Here below is the original Photo Stock Greek Church that needed a bit of punch, more definition in the mosaique and bricks, less ‘haze’ in the sky… and this without the windows disappearing into black holes… which they don’t if you enlarge the picture… but just… as I liked to sculpt with a bit more shadow. i could reduce it a tick… Question of feeling, mood and taste…
The professional buyer – be it an art director, a graphic artist or a web designer would perhaps push it all back a bit again, depending on the target. And bear in mind – here we talk Internet – not print.
The advantage of the original photo is that it’s sharp and well focused. Any professional can push it the way he or she wants it… so this was mainly an exercise also to get more familiar with the Adjustment Menu in Photoshop CS4 – which everybody followed with great enthusiasm … especially enjoying the forbidden paths of pushing personal creativity to the limits… Which we of course don’t show here where it’s all for… Photo Stock. So I never demonstrated it… did I?
If Digital Photography is something you enjoy and you wish to expand your knowledge in terms of how to present and sell your digital material online – possibly via Photo Media Stock – join us for the next Ycademy Seminar on 28 and 29 August 2010. Hurry – it’s almost sold out.

“In a couple of years” said Bill Gates a few years ago”… you will either have your business on the Internet or you have no business.” We’ve got to change and adapt… whether we like it or not…
You may have a sneak-preview on the YouTube movie CLICK HERE – this is a website built on Semiomantics Evolution that will go online shortly, showing the interested visitor or traveller exactly what awaits him and making it easy to book. No time lost – but a feast for the eyes… be it for Accommodation, Thorfynn’s Restaurant, Events, Conferences, Weddings – you name it!
It surprised me to actually not find a dedicated website for “Destinations Expo 2010″ – has the Internet Revolution jumped South Africa? Not that I want the whole world down here… and especially not at Monkey Valley Beach Resort, my favorite secret place… but South Africa has so much to offer and this is an event for new opportunities – national and abroad!
For this article, I wish to monitor the performance of my Semiomantics XO on Google Top 10 – after my article published a little earlier today – let’s have a look at the screenshot of Google Top 10 – meaning the first page of 184,000 search returns here: WOW! spot 6 with one little article! By Zo NicholasIn one of my previous articles I mentioned the developmemt at Gunfleet Sands, about 4miles south-east off Clacton-on-Sea in Essex.
Gunfleet Sands is one of the developments undertaken by Dong, a company involved in the offshore wind industry , to provide this part of Essex with green energy by tapping into the never ending supply of wind around this part of the coast.
Anyone who lives here around the the Thames estuary knows how much the wind blows around here almost every day of the year. Although we live a little inland we still overlook fields and the sea and today we noticed some new developments at Gunfleet Sands. As you can see a rig has appeared with a crane onboard.

The above photo is certainly not of the quality that will be required by the new Photo Stock Media site to be released on the 1st September. Photo & Media Stock is a venture undertaken by Ycademy and the August Ycademy Online Seminar participants, to provide high quality, sharp and well focused media stock photos.
Today the weather conditions were not the very best to take a good photograph, there was a slight mist on the horizon and the camera used was not the ideal one to take such long distance photoghraphs.

Tropical Wings Zoo in Essex has a wide variety of animals to watch and feed. Youngsters like my grandson just love to feed and feel the animals.
Arriving a little late in the day we were unable to see all the animals, but we still managed to see quite a few like the tortoises, goats, meerkats, lemurs, rabbits, wallabies and last but not least the birds of prey display.
Here is a short video of the Tropical Wings Zoo Animals on Youtube that we managed to see on the day.
Click on the image to view the video, Enjoy!
We will certainly be paying another visit to the Tropical Wings Zoo, perhaps in term time when there may be less crowds. The Zoo was certainly a major attraction in this part of Essex, the whole place heaving with children and adults. A real fun place for all the family.
We also visited The Butterfly Houseon the day, where you can walk among the free flying Tropical Butterflies and watch and feed the koi carp in the large pool.

By Zo NicholasOne of the first attractions one encounters at the zoo is ithe Butterfly House. When you first step inside it takes your breath away to see all the butterflies flying free in a warm tropical atmosphere among the vast array of tropcal plants. In the midst of all this is a large water area for carp just waiting to be fed. This was the best bit as far as my grandson was concerned, be could feed the fish and watch them fight for the food pellets.
Capturing images of the butterflies was not the easiest tasks as the butterflies flit from place to place and seemed often disturbed by the numerous visitors. It was a real honour and pleasure to see one or two land close by, close enough to quickly take a shot.

Tropical Wings is such a wonderful name for a zoo based in South Woodham Ferrers in Essex. providing a truly unique experience for any child, or adult for that matter, interested in wildlife. There is certainly a lot to see.
Tropical Wings Zoo is situated between Southend and Chelmsford and easy to reach. As you enter the zoo you get the feeling that it is mainly aimed at children, and judging by my grandsons reaction the owners have done a good job. With the use of bright colours they have made the whole place very welcoming for children.

By Zo NicholasWe set of from home on our trip to Hollow Trees Farm in fine weather, by the time we got there it had started to drizzle. While getting out of the car the drizzle had turned to rain so we decided to sit it out in the Woodlad Cafe with a cup of coffee. Suddenly the heavens exploded, with a most unforseen thunderstorm. An hour later it was all over. The sky remained overcast but at least no rain.
Here are some images from the trip to Hollow Trees Farm. Although the day was gloomy as far as the weather was concerned my grandson thoroughly enjoyed the day.
